There is no fixed “dog-friendly” surcharge for artificial grass. The price depends on the selected turf and the installation needed for your garden. Pet use may change the drainage, edging, infill or aftercare requirements, but it does not automatically make every roll more expensive.
AGAG’s published general full-installation range is £45–£85 + VAT per m² (£54–£102 including 20% VAT). Use it as a starting budget, not a guaranteed price for every pet-lawn specification. Your quote should explain any additional work.
What Can Make a Dog-Lawn Installation Cost More?
The important question is what the quotation includes, rather than whether a product has “pet” in its name.
- Turf choice: different fibres, pile designs and product specifications have different supply prices.
- Drainage: an existing waterlogged area or frequently used toilet spot may need a more considered installation approach.
- Groundwork and access: excavation, waste handling and restricted access can affect any garden installation.
- Edging and joins: a secure layout matters where dogs run, turn or investigate boundaries.
- Specified infill or other system components: compare what is actually included and how it will be maintained.
Ask for the reason behind an extra allowance. A more expensive backing or additive is not, by itself, a guarantee that the lawn will never smell or suffer damage.
Supply-Only Prices Versus a Fully Installed Pet Lawn
These listed product prices come from the AGAG range. They do not include a complete garden installation. Check the current order total, VAT treatment, delivery and minimum order before buying.

The difference between the listed Eden and Play Care prices is £2.51 per m². Across 40 m² of ordered turf that is £100.40 in product-price difference, before resolving delivery, VAT treatment, cutting waste or other order charges. It is not the difference between two fully installed quotations.

Allow for Cleaning and Long-Term Care
Include the time and cost of removing waste, rinsing toilet areas, using compatible cleaning products when needed and brushing the pile. Professional cleaning or repair may be appropriate if the condition of the lawn calls for it.
There is no guaranteed payback period. Reduced lawn mud and no mowing may be valuable to you, but the result depends on your current garden and how the new surface is used.

Is drainage included in the price?
Check what is specified. Normal base preparation and substantial remedial drainage work are not necessarily the same allowance.
Can I save by preparing the base myself?
Possibly, if the installer agrees the specification and accepts the prepared base. Confirm the arrangement before buying materials or starting excavation.
Will paying more guarantee an odour-free lawn?
No. Suitable design and regular cleaning remain necessary, and persistent smells may need investigation.
