At As Good As Grass, we helped Fulwood Primary School transform a wet, boggy, and underused field into a bright, durable, all-weather Daily Mile Track.
The school approached us looking for a practical way to increase pupil fitness without the cost – or usage restrictions – of installing a football pitch or running track. A fully installed, custom-branded artificial grass Daily Mile Track offered a flexible, affordable solution that keeps the field usable all year round.
We completed a full installation of approximately 380 linear metres of artificial grass track around the perimeter of the school field, incorporating the school’s own branding colours.
The route was carefully planned to follow the natural shape of the field, maximising lap distance while avoiding disruption to the main grassed area.
The existing field became waterlogged throughout the year, making it difficult for children to exercise outdoors. Traditional options — such as installing a tarmac track or building a dedicated sports pitch — were outside the school’s budget and would significantly limit how the field could be used. The school needed an affordable, low-maintenance, year-round solution.
We designed and installed a custom Daily Mile Track using durable, non-infill artificial grass designed for schools. The track was shaped to run the entire perimeter of the field, giving maximum lap distance and allowing pupils to stay active even in wet weather.
Because the track sits on the field’s perimeter, the school gained a reliable running route without compromising the field itself – even during wet weather.
